Age Spots
Age spots are one of the most visible signs of sun exposure over time, but they are also one of the most treatable. At Advanced Skin and Body Solutions in Bellevue, we help you fade dark spots for a more even complexion.

What are Age Spots?
Age spots, also known as sun spots or liver spots, are flat, darkened patches of skin that develop as a result of prolonged sun exposure over time. They occur when melanin, the pigment responsible for skin colour, accumulates in areas that have been regularly exposed to UV radiation. They are most commonly found on the face, hands, shoulders, arms and décolletage.
Despite their name, age spots are primarily caused by sun exposure rather than aging itself. They are more common in people over 50 and those with a history of frequent sun exposure or tanning, but they can appear at any age.
Age spots are harmless but can be a cosmetic concern. With the right treatment, they can be significantly faded or eliminated entirely, leaving behind a clearer, more even skin tone.
